does this mean my son is gay?

We were at this party at our country club. My son said he was going to head outside for some air, when it was time to leave I went to tell him. I saw him outside slow dancing with another boy. So does this mean my son is gay? He is 15 years old if that matters. Do you think the boy who we know as his friend the one he was dancing with is his boyfriend? They looked so cute together I wish I had taken a picture.

If I saw two fifteen year old boys slow dancing together I would probably assume that they were gay, but there are other possible explanations. Could your son have been teaching the other boy to dance, or vice versa? Could they just have been messing around?



My instincts tell me that your son is probably gay, but there are other possibilities so the only thing you can really do is talk to him. It sounds like you'd love and accept him, so maybe sit him down and have a general talk to him about sexuality, without telling him your suspicions, give him the chance to come out on his own and if he doesn't ask him about what you saw. As long as you lay a foundation that tells him you will be open and accepting, he shouldn't feel threatened or cornered when you discuss it with him.

Why is it, STILL today, when we are all supposed to be SO LIBERATED about all this kind of stuff, do people still bring up the double standard?



Two girls dance together, nobody even notices.



Two boys dance together, and all of a sudden they're gay!!!!



Apparently you dont care who your son has affections for, so I applaud you on that....otherwise you would have stormed over there and broken it up, instead of wanting to take a picture.



He's 15 you say? Well, some teens dont mature as fast as others. He could have been dancing with his friend because he wanted a dance and nobody else would dance with him.

Yes, he could be gay, but the way you spoke of it, it sounds like two friends trying to have a good time out of a boring party.



If you are confused whether this other boy is a friend or a boyfriend, why dont you ask?

It could been he's interested in boys but he might like girls also. He seems a bit young to choose yet though and I like the way your open to it.



The end of the day life's to live happily so if he's happy that should be all that matters.

He's fifteen. The best thing to do is relax and let him figure things out for sure first. Remember that males do not finish maturing until their mid twenties, usually. You just need to wait to approach this matter until he is older. You may, and this goes for every parent, wish to let your son know that he is loved no matter what. Everyone needs to be loved.

It does seem very likely that he is gay. This might be a good time to tell him that you will always love him no matter what and that he can talk to you about anything.

well... it matters ... answer the following questions "did he drink and was drunk?" if so he may have not been in control acting not himself if "he was hugging and kissing" in that matter he might be gay.
