Leading Australian scientist likens pedophila to homosexuality?

I am from Oregon and on vacation in Australia. I have just finished watching a tv doc on thier network tv. So much was said to document but the basics are that a study of 43 homosexual males who took a part in a series of paid but confidential tests proved that all 43 of them had pedophile tendencies 29 of which wanted to act out their fantasies if they knew they could get away with it. The scientist and doc claims that thye 'correlation' stems from a fetish at some point. They went on to say that all pedophiles have a gay tendancy and the doc went on to say why. I hope somebody would be kind enough to upload it on to you tube.

My brother in law is gay so I am not saying that I agree with the study however he does look after my kids during the holidays so I would seek advice whether I should continue this arrangement until I can get clarification of the study?

I have Googled the scientist and network and they are legit which kind of disturbs me.

You sure have a dilemma then don't you.



Maybe you need to do some research of your own. Maybe you need to identify which sex (female or male) is at highest risk of child abuse. Maybe then you need to identify which male is the most common offender against that sex of child and be sure to be sitting down before reading that most wife's are silent upon fining out the truth if its their partner or son who is the offender.



In fact if you follow the line of offenders, Father, son, mother (guilty through failing to report offenses if its a family member) brother, uncle, teacher, other trusted person like priest and sports coaches, The poor old gay male is at the end of the line.

I work in an industry that employes thousands of people. I get to mix with many of them.

While I don't deny that some of the gay men at my work are into young guys, there number of married men who are fathers who are into young girls astounds me, expressly when you consider that these are just the men who are willing to be open about their attraction.



You see studies like you speak about are very crafty in how the data is presented.

It says that 43 homosexuals etc etc, did it explain how it found these men or how the questions were structured and answers collected? You would be amazed at how easy it is to direct the path of a study by controlling the sort of person in the study and the wording of questions.



I wonder just what they pigeon holed as defining a boy. Was it any male under 18 or was it males who have not reached puberty. Go read up on what is a pedophile if you cant grasp the importance.



Did it explain why it did not do a similar study on heterosexual men?



Did it disclose the statistics gathered here in Australia from child protection authorities don't support the findings of the study. Its not rocket science. If 100% of homosexuals were into boys and just under 68% of the homosexual population is so into boys that they may offend, that would say that almost every male child will at some time in his life be seduced by some homosexual male.

I can assure you if the reality was that bad this would be bigger than the war on terror.



So on one hand you have a rating seeking TV program that you cant identify and neither can you identify the program or the study and on the other hand you have statistics that are obtained by real life experience.



I know if I was in your dilemma of your friends being around your children, I know which of the two places of knowledge I would trust.

First of all, 43 is a pathetically small sample size.



Second, these are paid tests. To the naive, this may be to entice the patients to be honest, but, to the cynics, this can be interpreted as bribery, which leads you to believe that this is anti-gay propaganda.



Third and lastly, being gay is not a fetish. That claim is automatically groundless and erroneous.



There are too many holes that can be poked in this argument. Sounds like a pile of ****.

I doubt the validity of the study and the conclusions in question. There are dozens of countervailing studies which show that the occurrence of pedophilia in gay men is marginally lower than in straight men.



I also sincerely doubt you have anything to fear with regards to your children. Now, if the guy was a catholic priest....



Still, I think you would be right to be proactive and casually talk to your children about what is and is not appropriate, just as you should with any adult having access to your children.
