risks of fake ID?

im 19, i live in pa, and i'm considering getting a fake ID. i don't plan to do much drinking, but i'm a musician and i LOVE live music and it pissses me off that i cant just drive over to my local bar and enjoy some live entertainment. also, i have older friends that go to bars and cant take me with, and generally...im up all night and bored because everything exept bars are closed. are there any MAJOR risk with getting a fake ID. if it's considered identity fraud, what are the consiquences? are fake ID's easily spotted?

That all depends on how intricate the PA state ID is.



I know here in CA, fake IDs are hard to make because of the million plus tamper-proofs.



I had a fake CA ID that I paid 500 bucks for! It swiped right, bended right, passed UV and IR light tests... everything!



But then one day when I was pulled over by a cop I accidentally gave him the fake instead of the real. So be careful with that.

Now as a Bartender, I'm going to be real with you:



We really don't care if you have a legit ID or not. All we care about is that you give us SOMETHING that at least looks enough like an ID so that if $hit goes down, we can shrug the blame. There have been a few times when a person has given me an ID and I was able to find one flaw in it pointing to it being fake. I still technically served him because

-it looked enough like a real one

-the guy looked over 21.



As long as you tip us, are nice to us, and don't make a scene we usually don't care.



Now that all depends on the type of establishment you're trying to get into.



Big, poppin clubs will have multiple bouncers specially trained to spot for fake IDs. I'd avoid those kinds of places with a fake ID (especially since many of them will then keep your ID).



Small pubs / bars / little dance halls, you know... local places, usually are less strict.



Before you go out spending money on this, do plenty of research (as I did for mine many years ago):



Find out exactly what a PA ID looks like (I mean REALLY study it. look at every little minor detail).



Read exactly which security features are on a PA ID.



Read to what extent PA is prosecuting (and how severely) fake ID cases

It’s better to buy a fake ID off of someone who will show you what his fakes look like and who has some references so you know how the IDs have held up. Fakes are easy to spot, its not worth the risk. I don't know the laws in PA, but it also depends on what kind of fake you get. If the ID is another person that is impersenating another person and the punishment is worse than posessing false ID with your picture on it. Atleast thats the law in my state.

If you get caught by a cop in a bar with a fake id not only are you putting yourself at risk for legal charges you are risking the bar too. You could cause them to lose their liquor license and that could put them out of business.



I understand that you are frustrated and bored, but is it worth the risk of not being able to enjoy the bar when you are 21?



Could you talk with the owner or the manager about getting a job there so that you can enjoy the place legally?
