Obviously not all men are created equal because of the fact that same-sex couples can't get married in most places. Also, the fact that gay people get beaten to death by straight people. Also, the fact that gay people are told they are going to hell for liking their same sex. Therefore, all men are not created equally.

That is a complicated question, because there are so many meanings to the statement. Am the equal of Beethoven? In the respect of musical talents I am not. I am certainly not the intellectual equal of a Leonardo or a Newton.
In Too Many Cooks, Rex Stout has Nero Wolfe say that the statement was not meant to convince but to confound. Certainly the founding fathers did not believe it.
Are we equals in the eye's of God? Who knows the mind of God?
Are we equal in the eyes of the law?
As long as I can marry the girl next door, but she cannot marry the girl next door to her, then we are not and the law needs to be changed.

"All men are created equal. No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words." (Harvey Milk)
