Question:
is homosexuality wrong? Using logic and biblical scriptures? PLZ READ?
Deception

Im not a homosexual but i come across this question all the time. According to the bible, its wrong no matter how you wanna look at it. But if you dont believe in the bible, i also believe its wrong because c'mon!!! even nature itself knows its wrong!! you never see 2 male animals humping eachother!! and dont tell me your dog does it because that dog isnt right. Then again, is homosexuality really a disease??? i use to be totally against it but now im giving it a thought and think its probably a "disease" some people are born with and cant help it. Maybe too many female hormones on males and vise verca. So does this still make it wrong? what do you think? Are you FOR gay people or are you just NEUTRAL and respect there decesion and may god judge them, or are you TOTALLY AGAINST it.!!

The Bible also condemns men who shave, barbers, people with tattoos, women having their period, pork eaters, football players, and people who eat shellfish (Lev. 19).

Also, when you say "you never see 2 male animals humping eachother" you are wrong. Most animals exhibit homosexuality.

Since men who shave, barbers, people with tattoos, women having their period, pork eaters, football players, and people who eat shellfish are not considered 'wrong'; and since homosexuality is exhibited in nature, it is not wrong.

This is a very good question. As a Christian homosexual myself, I felt it was something that needed to be answered. I've found that along with the Bible, this book below actually shed quite a bit of light on the subject, so it's a suggested read... "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality" by Daniel A. Helminiak. It points out that the Bible needs to be read with an understanding of what the wording meant at the time, as well as read in it's original text (Hebrew, then Greek). For this, you may need to do quite a bit of research. The modern day translations have made it 'wrong' (along with the people who have translated it), but the original texts did not say that homosexuality was wrong anywhere. Many clerics and laymen these days are lazy and unwilling to do the research before coming to a conclusion on what is acceptable to God and what is not.

Also, there are over 1,000 species of animals who have homosexual natures. Please do your research and find the facts before accepting what skewed, one-sided vision that clergy has told you.

Your name is well chosen -- as you tell an outright lie in your "question."

You certainly do see male animals humping each other --routinely -- furthermore, scientific study has conclusively proven that hundreds of higher animal species have exclusive homosexuals among their members.

1500 such species are presently part of a display at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm -- if you don't want to go so far, may I suggest Dr. Bruce Bahemihl's excellent book -- "Biological Exuberance." from St. Martin's Press -- it more than effectively debunks the outright falsehood that you spit out in your post.

Which leaves you where you were originally, condemning something that you don't really have any understanding of based on your understanding of a book that also says the world has corners and has a mountain somewhere on it so high that all of it can be seen (and by extension is flat), that talks about the pillars that hold up the earth (we fly free through space, there are no pillars, though all cultures at the time believed we were carried on something, Judaism was not an exception), and that has rabbits chewing cud (they do not) and beetles with four legs (there are none) -- The Bible, and the Book of Mormon, and the Torah and the Koran and so forth are books of myth -- holy because of the esteem that they are held in by certain religions with numerous followers -- they are nevertheless wholly mythical and have nothing to do with historic Christianity (there was no canon of books [bible] prior to the Council of Carthage, but there were many Christians) nor with moral, scientific, or other fact.

Think.

I have to disagree with Wide Awake. Satan has a hand in the way people are, also. The Bible states numerous times that GOD is against homosexuality. Educated people with their studies will tell you anything to make right what they want to make right by throwing scientific baloney in other people's faces. Although sexual orientation for some people is a concious decision, yet it is still a disease just like alcoholism.

And let's not make a point about how many species of what are gay. I have no idea of how GOD will judge roaches or monkeys, but I do know that man will be held accountable for the act of homosexuality.

One more thing, Just because a certain thing isn't mentioned in the Bible, if you think it's wrong but you do it anyway, it's wrong!

Okay, I've given this a lot of thought, after replying and shooting from the hip because I've had a really, really bad day.

Here is my conclusion on this question. I don't hate anyone. How people choose to live their lives is none of my business. I have tried not to judge people - so, I deeply apologize if my previous posts offended anyone.

I'm sure no one would choose to be "different" in a society that can be so hateful and OPINIONATED.

Someone brought up some awesome points about other things that are mentioned in the bible that culture has decided to put aside as time evolved. So, I don't know.

I'm not God and I am just glad that I don't have to know.

Love another right?

I wouldn't put logic and biblical scriptures into the same category if I were you. It just doesn't fit. To answer your question, nature does not know it's wrong, because homosexuality is natural. There have been numerous scientific studies linking homosexuality to genetics. See links below. In response to your statement about animals not being gay, there are gay animals. Scientists have done studies with animals and have found homosexuality in various species. I don't bring the Bible into the mix, mainly because it makes no sense to me to believe that a single book has all of the answers. I don't believe that God inspired the Bible. Like many people have said, God doesn't create junk. I am gay and I surely didn't choose it. If I had the choice I would choose to be straight. I believe God created me the way I am and there is nothing unnatural about it. I strongly suggest that you do some more reading on the subject before you start to make statements like the ones you have just made.

There are many animals in the world who have gay tendencies. Including Dolphins, but no one discriminates against them because no one can tell by just looking at one what one is.

It all has to do with categorization. Humans want to put into words what they don't understand, or what they don't see often.

The bible is the book, what makes you think the bible hasn't been changed given the corrupt clergymen from the 1500's burning women who they thought were witches because they thought differently. I don't believe in the bible, any educated person would know that the church banned several books of the bible and even burning several more. All in the name of "power" for certain people.

Gay being a disease...

Think about it for a second

Leviticus is the only book that speaks about the evils of "man sleeping with man in lust." Mind you it was one of the books banned. Yet everyone pulls that sentence out of their @ss when its time to talk about gays. If it was a disease wouldn't everyone have it?

Think about this... back in the times that the bible was being written they had no form of plastic or latex condom. That was over 2,000 years ago. Now 2,000 and some odd years later not everyone is running around thinking there is an epidemic gay disease. ESPECIALLY given this was written such and such a long time ago. Gay men weren't out in society that means they must have HAD to live hetrosexual lives infecting their wives vaginas and wombs with diseased children.

A disease is something that is spread from organism to organism through various ways. To even entertain the thought of gay being a disease its proposterous. If so, then a Straight man who has sex with a woman who doesn't know she's a lesbian doesn't use a condom the GD ( GAY DISEASE ) is transferred to him right? So then because your parents most likely have the gay disease passed down from generations you too must be gay then huh ?

Welcome to the family I have a hand bag, a rainbow button and a pair of assless chaps with your name on them just send me your address so I can send you a care package.

The worst part is that everyone yells God and Judge. But, God is no judge, It is compassion. God is not man or woman. You just give it a form you can relate to so that you can have something to think about at night when nothing makes sense. God is God nothing more nothing less.

Oh yeah and by the way, throw away your crosses, and pictures of jesus and statues of Jesus too because, worship onto statues that alot of people do is a big no no. Since you probably only read a censored bible you won't really realize that the reason why the Sodomites were wiped out was because they worshipped Idols, statues of false gods and constantly banged their brains out. God wasn't mad until they started worshipping Statues. Gold crosses statues and pictures of "Jesus" are propaganda, not religious sacred items.

One last thing, God wouldn't rain down fire on the people he created or even flood the world with water just to get his point across. Thats something petty that only we humans would do.

Read the bible again and you will see characteristis of the person who wrote it in the scriptures.

When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I want some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them:

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not to Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states that he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that, even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there "degrees" of abomination?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev. 24:10-16)? Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws (Lev. 20:14)?

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Monkies, penguins, insects....there's hundreds of KNOWN animal species that have varying degrees of non-heterosexual behavior; often to the point of forming exclusively homosexual relationships while there are plenty of other-sex partners still available. Nature itself seems to disagree with your bible there.

Also, if you're just going to point at any examples given and say "well that's not right", then you've clearly already made your decision and refuse to see evidence. That makes you illogical, not us.

Back again?

I couldn't care less what your religion says. I have my own beliefs and My Deity is just fine with me as I am.

There IS homosexuality found in nature. Look it up.

Homosexuality is NOT a disease, it is a normal variation of human sexuality, comparable with being left-handed or blue-eyed. It does not harm the person or others around them.

It does not force unreasonable accommodations to be made in order to live a healthy productive life.

Homosexuality is completely fine and normal. I am all for homosexuals being exactly who they are.

actually, there are animals other than humans who have same sex attractions (i.e. gay). the bible has about 2 references that allude to the modern idea of gay/homosexuality.

since there are so few references to it in the bible, it is a fare better use of one's life to pay attention to the teachings that are continually repeated throughout the bible.

things like:

-do not judge others (judge not), god will do the judging of us all

-love thy neighbor

-do not steal

-do not lie

-etc....

can you imagine Jesus carrying on about "the gays"? it is ridiculous even today. there is so much else that is truly bad in the world today that people should be focusing on.

good luck in your quest. i hope this was helpful.

God makes everyone the way they are - whether that is gay, straight, or somewhere in-between. Who are we to demean or disparage any of God's children, or any of God's gifts?

Yes, there are over 1500 species in which you see same-sex acts, at last count.

Being LGBT, or straight (i.e. exactly as God made you), is certainly not a disease. What IS a disease is preaching hatred, bigotry, discrimination and therefore violence against LGBT people. Can you believe that some people who do this have the gall to call themselves "christians?" What vicious hypocrites!!

Also, don't believe the malarkey about "love the sinner, hate the sin." People who spout this nonsense obviously hate both sinner and sin. Additional hypocrites.

Being gay, or straight (i.e. exactly as God made you) is not a DECISION. Choosing to hate someone based on their skin color, hair color, sexual orientation or other inborn characteristics is certainly a decision - a very black-hearted one.

Actually, there are homosexual animals. Why would it just be unique to humans?

It is completely natural and God created nature. How does something natural that God created go against Him?

actually animals are gay all the time. If you ever have two male dogs, they will hump each other if they are horny. all animals can be just as gay as we can. Just because the bible and your parents have you convinced it is wrong, doesn't mean its wrong. And homosexuality is as much of a disease as christianity or islam. (and by that I mean its not a disease at all)

I have always been against it until I found out my aunt was gay... She has always been my best friend. We grew up together with her only being 5 years old when I was born.... It was then that I realized I might not agree with it but that is my aunt who I love with all my heart and as long as she is happy that's all that I want. I by no means encourage it but nothing has changed between us!

OUR CREATOR SETS THE STANDARD

Our Creator established rules governing marriage long before governments began regulating the institution. The opening book of the Bible tells us: “A man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24) The Hebrew word “wife,” according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, “connotes one who is a female human being.” Jesus confirmed that those yoked together in marriage should be “male and female.”—Matthew 19:4.

Thus, God intended marriage to be a permanent and an intimate bond between a man and a woman. Men and women are designed to complement each other so they may be capable of satisfying each other’s emotional, spiritual, and sexual needs and desires.

The well-known Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah reveals God’s feelings about homosexuality. God declared: “The cry of complaint about Sodom and Gomorrah, yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy.” (Genesis 18:20) The extent of their sinful depravity at that time was apparent when two guests visited the righteous man Lot. “The men of Sodom . . . surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: ‘Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.’” (Genesis 19:4, 5) The Bible says: “The men of Sodom were bad and were gross sinners against Jehovah.”—Genesis 13:13.

The men became “violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males.” (Romans 1:27) They had “gone out after flesh for unnatural use.” (Jude 7) In countries where homosexual rights campaigns are pervasive, some may object to using the word “unnatural” to describe homosexual behavior. However, is not God the final arbiter when it comes to nature? He commanded his ancient people: “You must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.”— Leviticus 18:22.

YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY TO GOD

The Bible is clear: God does not approve of or condone homosexual practices. HE ALSO DISAPPROVES OF PEOPLE WHO "CONSENT WITH THOSE PRACTICING THEM"(Romans 1:32) And “marriage” cannot give homosexuality a cloak of respectability. God’s direction that “marriage be honorable among all” precludes homosexual unions, which he considers detestable.—Hebrews 13:4.

Still, with God’s help, anyone can learn to “abstain from fornication,” which includes homosexual acts, and “get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor.”(1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4) Admittedly, this is not always easy.

A person, who formerly pursued a homosexual life-style, said: “I thought I could never stop.” But he did change with help from “the spirit of our God.”(1 Corinthians 6:11) As that person discovered, no problem is too big for Jehovah, who can provide the strength and help needed to meet His standards and receive His blessings.—Psalm 46:1.
