being gay is not genetic?

...it hormonal!!!

If being gay was genetic why is the probability of being gay more likely when, you have a twin sister, the more older brothers ect... all factors of how much and what hormones you will get
Also the physical difference between heterosexual and homosexual are all difference changed by hormones, (size of index finger, left-handed, anti clockwise hair curls, larger penis, ect.)

If there was a gay gene it would be strange for it to survive not just in humans but in many other animals.

and is there a bisexual gene as well and the would have to be a lesbian gene as well because it would not be the same gene.

I'm bisexual... and even before I realized I was so I supported gay rights. What frusterates me is that many people defend us 'non-straight' bunch by saying that it's genetic, when I really don't think it is. Judging only by what I've seen, especially considering the only person in my wide, wide family who happens to be gay is a very, very distant cousin, I really have to disagree that sexuality is genetic.

Being gay has only half to do with genetics, but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with it. If one were to say that sexuality is genetic, then they're essentially saying that gays are 'devolved', which I don't believe in the least.

I believe we're all born just 'sexual'. We like our sexual organs stimulated, simply put, but by what we experience throughout life determines 'by what' we want to be stimulated by. Don't get me wrong, being gay, straight, or bi is NOT a choice, but instead a subconscious gathering of every experience you've had in life, as well as how your brain, constructed through genetics, reacts to it.

Your sexuality is NOT a choice, but saying sexuality is genetic is as ludicrous as saying someone who likes cartoon-pornography does so because it's coded in her genes. Though she can't suddenly 'choose' not to be turned on by sexually explicit cartoons, it's not coded in her genes either, much the same for us homo and bisexuals.

Either way, in this instance your place was to ask, our place was to answer. Even if I do somewhat agree with you (though your logic behind it is completely ridiculous especially considering genetics control hormones), you don't know your role. =)

this is a robust question and the respond is extremely complicated. i won't have the capacity to respond to why "some human beings" declare something, yet i can offer you some advice approximately genetics that can help clarify the complexities. there's a term in genetics observed as, "penetrance". This refers back to the means of a gene to be expressed. some genes have complete penetrance - it is, in case you have the gene, you are able to have a undeniable trait. yet, no longer all genes have complete penetrance. They matter on different issues being recent and those issues could be different genes, environmental factors and threat. yet the style of gene might strengthen the possibility of that trait being expressed. So, a genetic predisposition isn't possibly distinctive from asserting something is genetically desperate. this is a controversy of degree of penetrance. yet another huge hassle with examining the genetics of sexual orientation is that we've a no longer worry-free time determining if any individual is fairly gay. you're gay, yet have you ever oftentimes person-friendly you're gay? maximum individuals develop up thinking they might desire to be in the present day for the reason it is the norm in our society and it takes a number of self-exploration to return out to themselves. or perhaps whilst they comprehend it themselves, they won't admit it to others simply by fact of societal pressures. maximum religions discourage homosexuality and classify it as a sin. this is a important impediment to human beings residing openly as gays or lesbians. So, in case you have comparable twins and one is gay and the different isn't, possibly, in case you wait some years or some many years, they'll the two understand they are gay. i'm hoping this helps you and others understand this concern slightly extra.

Of course it's genetic, don't be silly. There's quite a bit of proof out there to support this, and undeniably, they have found that the brains of gay people and straight people are absolutely different in some areas. The only way for the fundamental structure of the brain to be different is through different genes. Therefore it's absolutely genetic. IMO we're the population control nature has instilled.

I have to laugh, I honestly don't see why it should matter.

Science hasn't proven the genetic link for handed-ness either...so why is that more acceptable than sexual orientation?

Look we're all human beings with our own personalities and individual likes and dislikes. Who cares if being gay/straight is genetic or not?

As long as it's between consenting adults and no one is getting hurt...let it alone!

I'm a zookeeper and I can rattle off a whole list of animals that exhibit homosexual behaviours for you. Homosexuality is not just limited to us. It is in the natural world as well.

This dangerous bunk lives on in the rather enlightened age. Very sad. I suppose the Earth is flat, too.
