Yes, "Racism still alive, they just be concealin' it" - Kanye West.

I believe it is still alive, just not as upfront as in earlier decades--which is a positive thing, but we still have much progress to make. As a white male, I sometimes hear other white males make subtly racist/sexist/homophobic comments, and I usually don't even know how to respond. I often don't say anything, because I know I can't convince them and I'll be labeled as too "uptight" or something. But it's quite clear these are harmful and hurtful attitudes. And it's probably prevalent among other races as well, I just don't get exposed to it as much.

But at least society is moving in a positive direction, and I think this progress will continue, as the trends usually show this, albeit too slowly.

Yea. It just flies under most people's radars because no one is openly committing hate crimes. If people look at the big picture, then racism doesn't exist unless it's extreme.

But it exists everywhere; in how you look at someone, in how you treat someone or speak to them. I believe that prejudice lies in the subconcious, and racism is when you acknowledge that prejudice(about race) and you're fine with it.

It is, and so is the fear of racism. Several years ago, I met a (straight) black man with whom I have since become friends. He was very reluctant at first to talk to me because he felt that the only reason I wanted to talk to him.

I like the comment about gays being the new favourite target of theose who would discriminate.

Every time this question is asked, I believe the consensus is that it is alive from both sides.

Yes it is still alive. It's a pity it won't go away.

Very much so. I know that in my high school racism is dieing down and picking up with Gay people. And gay people are the most discriminated people in the USA. More than blacks, Mexicans, whites, Jews. ANYONE.

Yes.. until the concept of racism is no longer known we cannot progress past it.

It is and ALWAYS will be.

For there to be no racism everyone would have to not discriminate on anyone, but there will always be at least that one person.
