Why does Elton John sing songs about.......?

love with a woman when it well known he is gay? What is the deal about that?

He never sings songs about 2 gay guys being together?

The songs you are referring to MUST be old songs, from before he "came out". I don't think he does love songs about women anymore! I thought of this myself, being a longtime HUGE fan of his. As for him not singing gay love songs, I'm sure he has the good sense to know better, and to know that the general public would never buy it. Just because we are being bombarded by a gay-happy media these days does not mean that everyone out there is embracing the "lifestyle"!

1. Back in the day when Elton John started singing, I doubt many people would have been super-receptive to listening to guy-guy love songs. And in his last album, the "My Elusive Drug" song was written for his current partner (husband?). I went to an Elton John concert two years back. It was fabulous!

2. I don't think it matters who someone is attracted to in terms of what's normal for someone to sing about; especially in terms of art, singing about something moving is what counts, and whether or not that person actually believes what s/he's singing about, well, that's a different story. If that singer can make it convincing, it makes the song that much more enjoyable!

His music is just a product to be sold, and he will be guided, in part, by his record company/manager etc. They're in it for the money!



It would be great if he did have some music that reflected his sexuality, it would be ground-breaking. And I think a high quality song like that would still sell well.



On the other hand, I don't assume that all singer's music reflects his/her own personal life - we the listeners typically relate it to life as we know it, sometimes our own relationship experience etc.

Yes, he does and has sung song about 2 men.



IE: That why they call it the blues....is about 2 men.



And furthermore, DUH.....he has been around since the 60's. you younger people FORGET that just 10 yrs ago...being gay wasn't as widely accepted as it is now. It wasn't as easy back then.

Most songs of him are written from diffrent song writers.

So he only sings what he is told to sing - not what he feels.

It pays better to write about Woman but all so Elton doenst write his own music his freand berny does and he is stright.

maybe while he's singing the song perhaps he is thinking of another bloke and not a woman...........perhaps it is actually about another bloke.
