My small town has a two-screen cinema, and for a week, it showed V for Vendetta and Brokeback Mountain. Now, I'm bi and very concerned with equality and was really looking forward to Brokeback, but once I knew about V as well, I decided to focus most of my film-viewing time and money on the latter. Both movies feature a tragic love story and deal with injustices against those of the GLBT community. That is only the tip of the iceberg in V; in fact it's astonishing how V for Vendetta is able to cover so many important issues so brilliantly! What do you think?

Well, I've seen them both, and while I think that Brokeback Mountain was a great film and that you should see it when you get the chance, I really liked V for Vendetta more. They're really completely different movies so it's hard to compare them. If I could only see one, I would see V, because it touches on many themes, has some good action, and really gives you something to think about (not that Brokeback doesn't, but the message in V is more broad). While Brokeback is good, V is incredible.

If you havent seen any yet I would go for Brokeback Mountain. It is a little more which shows the story of a lot of people back in the 60s and today. And to make a comment about the anser about that it didnt get any oscars... VERY TRUE. I dont even want to remember how lame Titanic was and it went right to the top at the academy awards. Clearly they are just after 'What can be sold well' Anyway, much fun!

I have to recommend Brokeback Mountain. It's absoulutely amazing, incredible, and wonderful. I've seen V For Vendetta, but I think Brokeback Mountain is way better. Also, why do you think Brokeback Mountain won so many awards if it wasn't good? You should definitely try Brokeback Mountain!

Since I didn't get to see Brokeback Mountain, I can't truly compare the two, but my friends saw BM and told me it didn't live up to the hype. So when I heard a lot of hype about V for Vendetta, I was nervous (I usually don't go see the hyped up movies unless someone I know with similar tastes as me sees it heh)....but I absolutely loved it. For me, it did live up to the hype.

I guess what I really, really loved about V was that the original story....the tv guy wasn't gay and lesbian's story wasn't as fleshed out. They "gayed up" the script in ways that were not offensive...in ways that made you feel compassion for the oppression they experienced.

My plan is to go see V at least five times in theaters. :-)

Brokeback comes out on video on the 9th. Go see V is for Vendetta. Or go to the matinee, then you'll have enough money to see them both.

V for Vendetta. Loved it! I watched them both but they kind of threw gay themes into V whereas BBM was the "gay cowboy movie" I thought V was very well done.

Ow. Damn. And I haven't even seen the movie yet. For making me rethink some of the lines from my favorite Clint Eastwood westerns, you should be shot, but it WAS a damned funny way to make me rethink them, so for that, you get a STAR!
