A man who has lived as a woman since high school and had surgery. Is she really a woman? Not trying to sound offensive just don't know how to ask

This is my personal opinion, but I think that your gender is whoever you think you are. It can't be told by science, can't be told by your physical appearance, it can only be told by what you think you are.
