Question:
Why Is Caitlyn Jenner Receiving So Much Attention that Other Transgendered People Didn't Get?

Caitlyn Jenner is not the first person to undergo a transformation in recent years.

Some other transgenders I know of are Matrix director Lana Wachowski and Chaz Bono. There's also Orange is the New Black's Laverne Cox but she was already trans before she became well known.

Why is Caitlyn receiving all of this attention that other trans didn't receive? Is it just because of the Kardasian connection?

She's been on the Kardashian fame train for a long time. And she was the only one of them who was famous for anything other than being famous. It looks like she did not want Kris to manage this, but pretty clearly there was a professional managing the press on this.

In short, Caitlyn gets attention that other transgendered people did not get because Bruce got attention that other people do not. Caitlyn is not famous for being transgendered; she was famous to begin with.

I don't want to go through a list that seems to be trashing other people, but think about it. Who was really a household name before? The best I can think of is Wendy Carlos -- and actually, you had to pretty hip to know who she was.

I think I saw Caitlyn in Bruce from the Wheaties box days, but I'm just an old crank.

Oh yeah, and the fact that she looks really good for a 66-year-old woman doesn't hurt.

Because she had fame prior to coming out as a trans woman, simple as that. The reason you know so few is probably due to the fact that a majority of the world is cis (not trans). Another reason it's stirring up a whole fuss is because she had entered the, and as far as I'm aware, many of the events are seperated by sex or gender (Not sure which of these it's based on). All kindsa things.

Because she's famous for multiple reasons. Gold medal winner, actor, married into that attention whore family, owns an aircraft supply business, and for a little while she drove race cars. So she gets attention because we live in a culture that gives lots of attention to famous people.

The bottom line is that even though she is a trans woman, she is also rich, white, famous, and a Republican. The Kardashian connection, as you put it, is definitely a factor, and the fact that before she transitioned, she was well known and well liked by a lot of people helps too. She just gets a lot more of the public eye than the other people you pointed out, even before she transitioned.

Bruce Jenner was once considered the best athlete in the world. Not sure what those other people contributed.

Bruce is an attention wh*re, as are most of his family members. It is very erotic for him to be interviewed by Diane Sawyer, and have his photo-shopped picture on the cover of Vanity Fair. He gets off, sexually, over all the attention. This is a function of his mental illness.
