no, because transsexuals (two s) fall under Transgendered, which is the T in LGBT

*edit* diane: not true, by definition, a transsexual person is under the umbrella term of transgendered, and lgbt is short of the longer term, which includes TTT, for transgendered, transexual, and two-spirited. they are not mainstream, but some live stealth and so are.

*double edit* i as a transsexual women have made my studies in this field. as much as people want it to change, myself included, the term transsexual is still UNDER transgender, same as LG and B are under queer! this is a social construct, but existant none the less. i havnt gotten a thumbs down on this site before, but i will not stop this! its true!

once someone goes stealth, most times they dont identify as a Transsexual woman, but just as a Woman! and this is what removes them from the LGBT community if they choose to. this isn't an attack, but facts, i never said i agreed with them, but they exist.

I'm Transsexual, my sexual oriantation is hetrosexual. It really dosn't matter to me where people put me. I can not chose where I'm put so why worry. To some non understanding redneck, if they knew I'm trans, this is a direct quote to be said in a strong southern accent. "That some bi*ch is qu**r as the day is long". To some one that sees my B/F and I walking along the beach holding hands, all they see is a hetro couple. We really do not have a choise, to some we will alway be a part of LGBT while others will see us as just mainstream people.

Dear Amy,

Any Transsexual that has identified as strait in their sexual preference strives to transition and "reenter" the mainstream of society... [Go stealth.]

Any TS that has identified as a Gay trans-man... Or lesbian trans-woman, strives to transition and enter the gay male/Lesbian community.

The truth is, hereto, lesbian or gay FEW members of any of these communities are welcoming the TS with open arms.

The Government may want to call me Transgender, but I call myself a woman! And on my ID it even states that I'm female not male!

Also I am still waiting to find a Doctor who will do the surgery and yes SSI does pay for it here in California.

All transsexuals are part of the mainstream society. Any else is mindless and demeaning to them.

Neither and both. I have one very close trans M2F friend, she has since cut herself off from the GLBTQ community. What she told me was this. She was a long term drag queen, a lot of trans peoples are. But they were the exact people who shunned her when she started to transition. She is hetero by definition, or will be after she completes the transition. And had to cut herself off from bi-curious types and tranny chasers that stay in the gay scene. She wants to find a man and settle down. That's her choice, and the only real example I know.

A heterosexual transsexual person, by definition, isn't Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender*, so by default, that person would be 'mainstream'.

*(Despite the efforts of the transgender lobby, transsexual people are NOT transgender; that's something different again. http://ts-si.org/content/view/2303/995/ )
